What does a compost certification mean?
It means a product has undergone third-party testing & has been proven to break down within a set period of time & to leave behind no toxic byproducts.
Why are these products more expensive than plastic or other “decomposable” products?
Our film is more expensive to produce than plastic. Since many “decomposable” products are also made with plastic, they can be priced lower. We keep our prices as low as possible while providing a plastic-free alternative.
Will these be accepted in my municipal composting facility?
If your local facility accepts garbage bags that can compost, they can handle any of our products. All our bags and our cling film use the same material as our garbage bags, just in different forms. Also certified for home compost.
Why aren’t these products as transparent as plastic?
Our film is made with organic cornstarch from non-food grade corn. This means we aren’t taking away from food crops & aren’t using additional land for our materials, but it does give the film a slightly milky, translucent appearance.
How will I know what’s inside?
Most customers have no issue with this and can still tell what’s in the bag since it isn’t completely opaque, but we provide a large white area on the bag to make labelling and identification easy just in case.
